New EngageNYC Campaign Focuses on HIV Prevention

BRONX, N.Y.— Engage NYC—a joint effort by the Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) and the Montefiore Medical Group to provide access to high quality health care for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) communities in the Bronx and throughout the city—has launched a new advertising campaign focused on promoting a new way of preventing the spread of HIV in the Bronx.

The focus of the advertising campaign, which will be featured in LGBTQ publications and social media platforms, centers on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP). The campaign promotes the use of Truvada, a once a day pill used to help HIV negative people stay negative.

“Coupled with proper condom use, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis with Truvada has proven to be an effective tool used against the spread of HIV in the Bronx,” said Jay Izes, MD, Chief Medical Officer, BCHN.

This campaign is part of a larger effort to promote education and proactive protection against the spread of this dangerous disease.
